Site Installation

Spring Hanger Installation Protocol

Step-by-Step Installation Instructions

  1. Unpacking & Visual Inspection: Verify the unit nameplate, spring size, tag number, and pre-set cold load against site piping support isometric drawings.
  2. Rigging & Attachment: Mount the top attachment (beam clamp, welded lug, or eye rod) to structural steel. Connect the bottom clamp to the pipe line without removing factory locking pins.
  3. Hydrostatic Testing: Keep the factory-installed travel locking pins/stop bars IN PLACE during hydro-testing to prevent overloading the spring coil.
  4. Lock Pin Removal: After successful hydrostatic testing and pipe insulation completion, remove the locking pins. Ensure the load indicator rests exactly at the calculated COLD LOAD position.
  5. Hot Load Verification: Once the piping system reaches operating temperature, verify that the travel pointer shifts smoothly to the calculated HOT LOAD position on the scale.

Annual Visual Audits

Check for visual spring coil corrosion, physical obstruction, bent turnbuckle rods, or loose locknuts. Verify scale pointer moves between Cold and Hot marks without binding.

Overhaul & Calibration

During major plant shutdown overhauls (every 5 years), inspect turnbuckles for thread wear, check spring coil free height, and re-calibrate springs if required.
